Eskimo®-3 Brainsharp Fish Oil 120 Capsules

The ideal choice for anyone wishing to support brain health; Eskimo®-3 Brainsharp utilises the same high quality fish oil used in the original Eskimo®-3 formulas, but has been combined with specific, active ingredients to help support mental performance. Comprising over 90% of the omega-3 fatty acids in your brain, DHA has been shown to improve learning, mood, memory and concentration, making it especially beneficial for students taking exams, and older adults.

A minimum of 250mg is recommended for good brain health. Taking 4 capsules of Eskimo®-3 Brainsharp daily provides EPA and DHA roughly equivalent to 4 portions of oily fish per week.

We’ve added CoQ10 to our Brainsharp formula for extra cognitive function support. CoQ10 is an antioxidant which can help protect against oxidative damage to our cells. Our levels of CoQ10 start to decline as we age, so keeping them topped up can be useful to maintain healthy cognitive function.

The term ‘omega-3s’ actually refers to a family of essential fatty acids that play various roles in the body and have a number of health benefits, which is why you will see them listed separately in a supplement formulation.

The three main types of omega-3 fatty acids found in supplements are alpha linolenic acid (ALA) which helps support inflammatory response, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) which supports heart health, and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) which helps support vision and brain health. While the latter two are primarily found in oily fish, ALA occurs in many plant foods.

Omega-3, 6 and 9 are all unsaturated fatty acids, however they have different chemical structures which mean they differ in their properties and health benefits too. Omega-3 supports cell membranes, heart and brain health, omega-6 can aid brain and hormone function, and omega-9 can support heart health and acts as a substitute in case of low levels of omega-3 and 6.

Whilst omega-3 and 6 cannot be made by our body and are called essential fats, omega-9 can be produced by our body. Eskimo®-3 Brainsharp combines the full spectrum of omega fatty acids to help us stay healthy, in the correct ratio required for optimal benefits

Omega-6 can be found in a range of food sources, including vegetable oils and nuts. The benefit of omega-6 from evening primrose oil over processed vegetable oils is that it is highly abundant in its active ingredient, gamma linolenic acid (GLA), essential for brain function, healthy skin, and hormone balance. GLA levels are often inadequate in a typical Western diet, so supplementation can be beneficial.

Consuming a supplement with ready-made essential fatty acids is especially important if we’re not consuming enough oily fish. Omega-3 fatty acids are particularly beneficial for the brain as they can support:
