Irritable Bowel Syndrome

Restoring your system through the 4Rs

Mentioning IBS to someone usually conjures images of stomach pain and unwelcome trips to the toilet. However, the symptoms of IBS can also include infections, tiredness and stress. Add in the fact stress can also contribute to developing the condition, and the problems involved in managing this complex condition becomes apparent.

At Nutri Advanced, we take the tried and tested ‘4R’ approach to the issue. First, is a focus on Removing. This involves removing the substances in the gut causing irritation – often bacterial pathogens. Since a number of common foods – including wheat and dairy – can trigger IBS symptoms, adjusting your diet may be necessary while your gut heals.

Second is Replace, which refers to using nutritional support formulas to optimise and normalise the digestive process. Third step is Reinoculate – this involves achieving a healthy bacterial balance so the gastrointestinal system can work as it should. Certain micro-organisms – often referred to as ‘friendly bacteria’ – can prevent problematic pathogens from entering your system via your gut. Our probiotic supplements are all clinically proven to contain these friendly bacteria in sufficient quantities to have an effect.

The fourth, and last, step is Repair. Since IBS often results in an irritated gastrointestinal tract, certain substances can help cleanse and sooth your gut, while supporting it to generate protective mucosal cells.
