Plant Sterols
Number 123. For Professional Use Only
Phytosterols are fats that are naturally present as minor components of various plant-derived foods, including vegetable oils, such as rapeseed and sunflower oil, and fruit, vegetables, grains, nuts and seeds. Although referred to as “plant fats”, they are chemically steroidal alcohols, and are structurally related to natural compounds produced by the body such as cholesterol, aldosterone and vitamin D.
