Number 72. For professional use only
Long-term exposure to oestrogens, in the form of hormone replacement therapy or xenoestrogens, is associated with several health risks.1,2 The ratio of oestrogen metabolites (e.g. 2-hydroxyestrone over 16- hydroxyestrone) is an established indicator of hormonal balance in women and men, influencing the health of breast, endometrium, prostate and other tissues.3-12 Effective oestrogen clearance is a growing concern among health care providers, and its implications for gynaecologic health and normal cell proliferation are significant.
